									<div>
<div>We will start reviewing and practicing Math Word Problems.</div>
<div>&nbsp;</div>
<div>IMPORTANT! PLEASE READ DIRECTIONS AND LOOK AT EXAMPLES BELOW:</div>
<div>&nbsp;</div>
<div>FOLLOW THESE STEPS TO DO WORD PROBLEMS</div>
<div>&nbsp;</div>
<div>1. Read the problem<br>2. Draw a picture of the problem to help you understand<br>3. Write out the equation as a story flow map ( 3 spaces) to show equation<br>4. Decide what operation to use ( add, subtract, multiply, decide )</div>
<div>&nbsp;</div>
<div>PAGE 60 EXAMPLE:</div>
<div>Example: Maise has 6 times as many lollipops such as Jamie. If Jamie has 8 lollipops, how many lollipops that Maise have?<br><br>The number for the model is " 8 " because Jamie has 8 lollipops</div>
<div>&nbsp;</div>
<div>Maise has 6 times more than Jamie has.</div>
<div>So 6 x 8 =48</div>
<div>&nbsp;</div>
<div>Answer: Maise has 48 lollipops.</div>
<div>&nbsp;</div>
<div>PAGE 61 EXAMPLE:</div>
<div>&nbsp;</div>
<div>Example: A red sweater costs $36.00. Red mittens cost $9.00. The sweater costs how many times more than the mittens?</div>
<div>&nbsp;</div>
<div>****Story Flow Map ( 3 spaces) to show equation:</div>
<div>&nbsp;</div>
<div>________ x ________ = ___________</div>
<div><br>Known Unknown Product</div>
<div><br>Product Product<br><br>THE LARGER NUMBER ( $ 36) in the problem goes in the PRODUCT.</div>
<div>&nbsp;</div>
<div>( $ 9 ) is the KNOWN PRODUCT</div>
<div>&nbsp;</div>
<div>So : 9 x ______ = 36</div>
<div>&nbsp;</div>
<div>Well, 9 x 4 = 36 so the sweater costs 4 times more than the red mittens</div>
<div>&nbsp;</div>
<div>DO page 60 and 61......Take a pic of page 60 and 61 and send through REMIND......Click " TURN IN" when done.</div>
