Solar Eclipse Across America Information

The Eclipse Across America is happening on Monday, August 21, 2017. This solar eclipse will start around 9 a.m. and peak at 10:22 a.m.

Please talk to your children about the eclipse and remind them that they cannot look directly at the sun during the eclipse unless they use approved solar eclipse viewing glasses.

  • This is extremely important because looking directly at the sun without eclipse viewing glasses may permanently damage your eyes. Ordinary sunglasses or homemade filters will not provide adequate protection.

In preparation for this event, some schools will be implementing a modified recess schedule and PE schedule during the peak time of the eclipse so that students are not outdoors.

Classrooms with the proper eye protection will be supervised by a teacher in a controlled setting.
