ROWLAND HEIGHTS, CA – JANUARY 12, 2026 – Rowland Unified Superintendent Alejandro Flores announced today that the district is proud to be honored by the California Association of Bilingual Education (CABE) for awarding Rorimer Elementary as one of only four schools in the state as a 2026 CABE “Seal of Excellence School.” The award recognizes schools for their strong vision for biliteracy, multicultural competency, and educational equity.
“To receive this prestigious state award by CABE is a true testament to our District’s continued commitment to educational excellence and helping each child succeed,” said Flores.
The Seal of Excellence is awarded after an extensive process that includes an on-site visit by CABE representatives who review the school’s instructional practices and equity-focused programs. Rorimer Elementary, a Spanish Dual Language Immersion School located in La Puente, has demonstrated notable gains in academic achievement and bilingual proficiency among English learners and reclassified students using effective, research-based instructional strategies. The school has also created a schoolwide culture that embraces and celebrates developing students’ bilingual language proficiency and cultural awareness in grades TK through 6. A pivotal part of their success is due to the strong relationships built between Rorimer teachers, staff and families.

At Rorimer, we believe bilingualism is a gift and an asset, and we are proud to be a community where language, culture, and academic excellence are celebrated,” said Heidi West, the Principal of Rorimer Elementary.
The school will be honored during the Annual CABE 2026 Conference in San Francisco on March 6, 2026.
